Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin pie is a dessert with ancient origins, which has its roots in the North American culinary tradition . Pumpkin, with its characteristic sweet flavor and creamy consistency , has proven to be a perfect ingredient for making pies. From the very beginning, this preparation has become a must during the autumn season , especially on the occasion of Thanksgiving .

Ingredients for 1 cake

  • 1 kg of pumpkin pulp (cooked and blended)
  • 3 eggs
  • 200 g of brown sugar
  • 240 ml of cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons Pumpkin Pie Mix
  • 1 roll of shortcrust pastry

How to make pumpkin pie

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the pumpkin pulp, eggs, sugar, cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt until smooth.
  3. Roll out the shortcrust pastry into a cake tin of about 24 cm in diameter and pour the pumpkin filling inside.
  4. Bake the cake for 50-60 minutes, until the center is cooked through and the top is lightly golden.
  5. Allow to cool completely before serving.
  6. You can decorate the surface with a sprinkling of icing sugar or cinnamon.

Once baked, pumpkin pie reveals itself to be a true riot of autumnal flavours . To best enhance the flavours of the pie, it can be served warm or at room temperature, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a generous dose of whipped cream . For a decidedly more autumnal touch, it can be paired with a caramel sauce , a mascarpone cream or an apple compote.
