Kala Namak Purple Indian Salt (also called Sanchal) is a fossil edible salt originating from Central India. The appearance and color are very particular: with a very soft and almost fluffy consistency, it has chromatic characteristics that fade from intense pink to purple to dark grey. With a soft and velvety consistency, almost impalpable, this salt is characterized by very fine grains, with a decidedly particular smell. In fact, it recalls that of the egg due to the sulfur contained in it which, however, dissolves a lot during the cooking phase. Kala Namak Salt is a rock salt widely used in Indian cuisine and is particularly suitable for making ethnic recipes but also in fries, soups and even fruit salads, especially if prepared with tropical fruit. Very original as an aperitif if served together with a fresh ginger root. Low in sodium.
