Turmeric Powder

Turmeric is a rhizome comparable to ginger, with an intense yellow colour, which is the basis of different spice blends. It is a spice widely used in Indian cuisine, which also finds space in many uses that are not purely food-related. Recent studies have shown how curcumin, the active ingredient contained in the spice, has anti-tumor properties, inhibiting the growth of different types of tumor cells. Among other characteristics, turmeric is rich in antioxidants, anti-thrombotic, anti-inflammatory, choleretic, cholagogue and hypocholesterolemic.

In the Kitchen : The intense and unmistakable flavor is particularly suitable for meat sauces (white-red) on rice. Lentil soups, vegetable soups and chicken broths can benefit greatly from the addition of this spice. In the modern context, turmeric is often consumed in the form of supplements or used in health drinks such as "golden milk", a hot drink made from almond or coconut milk, turmeric, black pepper (which helps the absorption of curcumin) and other ingredients such as honey and ginger, appreciated for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
