How to make chili con carne

  1. In a large saucepan, heat a couple tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add the minced garlic and chili pepper and cook for another minute.
  2. Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until golden brown, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.
  3. Once the meat is cooked, add the paprika, cumin and oregano. Stir well to distribute the spices evenly.
  4. Add the peeled tomatoes and crush them lightly with a spoon. Also add the tomato paste, the diced pepper, the sugar and the beef broth. Bring everything to a boil.
  5. Reduce the heat, cover the pan, and simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. If the chili becomes too thick, you can add a little more broth or water.
