Berberè is a blend of spices characterized by spiciness and complexity, an Ethiopian mix with a complex flavor that adds depth and heat to dishes. Berbere is an essential component of many traditional Ethiopian and Eritrean dishes, including the famous doro wat (a type of chicken stew) and various other types of wat or stews, which are served on top of injera, a firm, flat bread lightly fermented and serves as a dish and utensil during meals.
In the Kitchen : This blend is excellent for red meat such as steaks, for lamb roasts and for flavoring pork fillets. Also excellent for grilled vegetables and couscous. Given its versatility, its use goes well beyond traditional Ethiopian dishes, also adapting to European flavours.
