Cayenne pepper, a spice native to South America, is commonly known in its ground form. The term cayenne is very often mistakenly used to indicate any type of chili pepper, with the generic name of cayenne pepper. In America the term "Red pepper" is commonly used to indicate the powder of cayenne peppers which are all characterized by the particularity of being elongated (reaching 10 cm) and thin with the tip often curled.
In the Kitchen : Cayenne powder is very fine and homogeneous, characterized by a high level of spiciness. In fact, it is not recommended to use it in combination with black pepper. It is a common ingredient in several cuisines around the world, including Indian, Mexican, Cajun and Creole dishes. It is used in sauces, stews, marinades, and as a seasoning for meats, fish and vegetables.
