Cubeba Pepper

Cubeb Pepper (Piper Cubeb), originally from the island of Java in Indonesia, was discovered by John Parkinson on one of his voyages around the mid-1600s. Very similar in shape to Tellicherry Black Pepper, it differs in having a small stem at the end of the berry. Ideal for those who love a light pepper with a strong aromatic flavor.

In the Kitchen: It is a sweetish pepper with flavor nuances tending towards Cardamom and Clove, and the aftertaste is mentholated. This pepper has a pungent and slightly bitter taste, making it suitable for exotic dishes that require a distinctive touch of spice. It is used in sauces, stews, and marinades, and pairs well with meat or vegetable dishes.
