The Dead Sea is actually a lake located in the Near East between Israel, Jordan and the West Bank, in the historical-geographical region of Palestine. Anciently called Asphaltide, the Dead Sea is located in the deepest depression on Earth, generated over millennia as a result of the evaporation of its waters not compensated by those of the tributaries, which is also the cause of its well-known strong salinity. Currently the water level of the upper (northern) basin is approximately 415 m below sea level and the gap continues to increase, given that the level inevitably continues to fall, also posing the problem of its possible disappearance in the medium-long term term.
Dead Sea salt has a higher salinity than all the seas in the world, 7-8 times higher than that of a normal sea. The extraordinary characteristic is the presence of magnesium chloride (32%), potassium (25%) and bromine, all components with very important properties for the skin.
In the Kitchen : Given the high salinity, it could be interesting to use it in dishes that benefit from a more pronounced mineral flavor, such as grilled meats, sautéed vegetables, or fish dishes.
